33408 Cyclotechs
Greece
We are Cyclotechs #33408, a young and independent FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team from Tinos Island,in Cyclades, Greece.
Our team was created by students for students, who share a passion for technology, creativity, and innovation, with the goal of bringing STEM education to a local community that previously had limited or no access to robotics opportunities. What began as the personal journey of one student travelling regularly from Tinos island to Athens to participate in FTC teams evolved into a vision: to create opportunities for many more students on our island and in the Cyclades.
Cyclotechs is built on the basis of volunteering, collaboration, and persistence. Our members are middle and high school students who design, build, and program the team’s robot while developing skills in engineering, problem solving, teamwork, and communication.
What makes our team truly special is our strong focus on long-term sustainability and impact. We are not only building a robot for this season — we are building a lasting robotics and STEM community in the Cyclades islands in Greece. Our strategic three-year plan includes supporting the creation of new FLL and FTC teams, mentoring younger students, organizing outreach activities for ages 6–18, and working toward local scrimmage events that will allow more teams from island regions to participate in robotics.
This commitment to sustainable growth was recognized when our team was awarded the 2nd Sustain Award at the FTC Greece National Championship, one of the most important awards celebrating teams that demonstrate long-term vision, community impact, and the ability to create opportunities for future generations in STEM. This recognition confirmed that even a rookie team from a small island can contribute meaningfully to the global FIRST community.
Through presentations in schools, workshops, collaborations with university mentors, and outreach activities across the Cyclades, we have already introduced robotics and STEM education to approximately 75,000 people, helping inspire younger students to explore technology and innovation.
We are excited to represent our island and our country at the European Premier Event in Eindhoven, meet teams from around the world, exchange knowledge, and continue building connections that support the future of STEM education.
Team motto
“Building robots, building opportunities.”
Fun fact
Tinos island in the Cyclades, is internationally known for its long tradition in marble sculpture and craftsmanship. Inspired by this heritage, we see our robot as a contemporary form of creation that combines engineering, creativity, and precision.
Memorable moment
Winning the Sustain Award was a defining moment for our team. It showed us that our effort to build something sustainable for future students — not only for ourselves — is meaningful and valued. Seeing younger students become excited about robotics during our outreach visits reminded us that our work already has an impact beyond the competition field.
